Marathon Technology Group was founded by Don Branstetter in 1988 as a small computer repair and support company. But it was his work in the mid-80's at Waterfurnace International, "The Furnace" as the close knit family of employees called it in the early days, that proved to be his "training run" for starting his own company. 

Don had a degree in mechanical engineering. When he wasn't designing thermal heat pumps for Waterfurnace International, he was supporting the computers and endusers in the organization.  Then he started thinking, "How could I program the machines to carry out the tasks we're working on upstars without having so many steps in between?"  He worked out automating the production process at "the Furnace" often times during his long training runs.  In fact Waterfurnace, back in the day, was one of his first running sponsors. 

Who could have known that what he was really training for would be more challenging than qualifying and finishing in the lead pack of the Boston Mararaton 4 times, or his lead finishes in over 30 regional and state marathons.  And then there were those ultra-marathons and bi-athlons. 

Don Branstetter was never one to take things simply.  He had a focus and a drive that few could comprehend.  It's that same focus and drive that has transformed Marathon Technology Group over the last two decades into a formidable and innovative technology integrator and managed services provider.
